I visited the Texas School Book Depository several years ago. It's worth visiting for both the indoor and outdoor historical sites. You can stand where Zapruder filmed the assassination. Also go out in the street and stand where the first bullet was fired. They have an "X" on the street. Inside the building which is a museum there are lot of displays. You can't look out the window from the sixth floor perch as it enclosed in fiberglass but you can look out from the fifth floor window which gives you almost the exact distance Oswald saw the limo. Just looking at the "X" from the window is chilling. Dealey Plaza is pretty much intact so you can walk around where the various eyewitnesses stood to visualize what they saw as the rifle was being fired.
